They called me a priest of God
Not knowing how week I am
I didn't sign up to throw my life away
I took the crook and the staff so I'd be praised
But now I see
This fold needs better than me
Always quick to falter and disappoint
My dry throats thirst for blasphemy
My name brings the just to their slaughter
And I've never even held my daughter
I'm not the savior these people need
I've traded my life for another drink
I've heard the stories
Of saints and kings
Living blamelessly
But that isn't me
Now I've become the one they seek
Unable to see my despondency
My hands turn bread to sacred flesh
But I can't erase my fear of death
My halo shimmers from gold to brass
When I find my solace inside a flask
But I know I can't stop feeling for the fold of God
Grace flows from your wrists
I'll fly with empty fists
My malevolence has brought me to the edge of contrition
Let my faults bring my needed purging
Lord of sinners may I drink your mercy?
My halo shimmers from gold to brass
When I find my solace inside a flask
But I know I can't stop feeling for the fold of God
Your hands make wine from water
Maybe you can make a drunk a martyr

The Soul in the Body

"What a foolish people
What a strange, and factional fold”
Among the imbecilic we of all men are utmost pitied [1]
Foresee past your fingertips
Withhold the harlots from your lips
We trade a moment's pleasure
For the hope to find a home beyond the sun [2]
Life is a vapor [3]
A mist that evades all of man's incessant grasping
Anachronistic
Pointing to the coming black horizon
"Poor, wretched misfits
Disciples of an insurrectionist” [4]
We've become a temple
The overlap between earth and heaven [5]
A peculiar people [6]
A prophetic cry pointing to the coming son [7]
The sons of men and their borderlands don't make us who we are
We find our names inscribed by hand
Announcing us as the soul in the body [8]
Sojourners, foreigners [9]
Without a place to lay our heads in this hollow wasteland [10]
We are citizens, with one foot past the border [11]
To every king we bow the knee
But our hearts bow to another [12]
Against the world because we see through her [13]
The joy she's offered us has come to fade and wither [14]
Call me a bastard, but she is not my mother
My tongue was dry until I found the breast of the Assembly of God [15]
No common language
No race or nation [16]
What binds us is the blood of an empathetic savior
Our sole intention, our one objective
Is to reawaken the forgotten image of the artificer

It isn’t clear to me
If raging currents dance into the sea
Does every dissonance flow into harmony?
But I feel stiff with tension
Remorse with no resolve
Will sorrow augment
From grief to glory?
My hope diminishes

The Music of the Spheres
03:34

Reclaim ocean driftwood
Are you bewildered by its sound?
Did you think its resonance
Would mimic its cold, lackluster frame?
“…the head of this house
The unseen Guest at every meal,
The silent Listener to every conversation” [1]
Marked by corrosion
Overlooked but not forgotten
Don’t underestimate the heralding of tarnished brass
All that seems aberrant
Is the rise and fall
The glissando
Scored in the music of the spheres [2]
Faint but growing
Hear creation groaning
In me
Is this the rising tension or the final dénouement?
The stars all tremble
A divine ensemble
Listen
How can a eulogy ascend into the major key?
Do the heavens dance in step with the heartbeats that he keeps in time?
Arranged
Oscillating
Unforeseen
And captivating
Every note reaches its apex
And overshadows in unison
The dread of the unsound
The crescendo
Once subdued
Has now become
Deafening
What once was noise has been transformed into melody
Atonal and dissonant
The universe becomes resolute in you
Create a symphony in me
With the music of the spheres
